The US Army CERDEC Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (or simply N.V.E.S.D.), located just outside of Washington D.C., is “the U.S. Army’s Sensor Developer.” NVESD’s Electro-Optics and Countermine S&T portfolio is used across the Army to develop next generation capabilities for the Warfighter. NVESD is producing novel sensors that adapt to all environments and threats, creating actionable information for the Soldier in all domains and on all manned and unmanned platforms to enable improved situational understanding, survivability, maneuverability and lethal effects against peer threats.
